Think! You do not need charging cable or adaptor and even no existing touch based wireless charging to charge your smartphone. That would be fantastic to have real wireless charging environment where you can charge your phone as like you transfer your photos or files via bluetooth or wi-fi from one device to another. That would be amazing, indeed!
The Xiaomi, Chinese multinational electronics company invented such wireless technology named the ‘Mi Air Charge Technology’ which is actually the revolutionary innovation of wireless charging in the domain. This is a Xiaomi’s ‘self developed remote charging technology and it’s not science fiction, it’s technology’, company said with a blog post.

HOW IT WORKS ?
Mi Air charge technology is based on space positioning and energy transmission theory. Here an isolated charging pile could detect the smartphone through five phase interference antennas. Whereas 144 antennas transmits millimeter-wide waves through beam-forming to track the smartphone.
On the other side, in smartphone Xiaomi developed miniaturized antenna array with built-in ‘beacon antenna’ and ‘receiving antenna array’. Beacon antenna broadcasts smartphone’s position information to the charging pile with low power consumption. The receiving antenna array composed of 14 antennas. This converts the millimeter wave signal emitted by the charging pile into electric energy through the rectifier circuit, to turn the sci-fi charging experience into reality.
As of now, the charging pile could charge up to 5-watt for single device within the range of few meters and at the same time it could charge multiple devices each supporting 5 watts of power. Interesting thing is that any physical obstacle will not interfere the changing capability, company mentioned in their blog.
FUTURE OF AIR CHARGE TECHNOLOGY
As the innovation of wireless charging started more than 100 years back in 19th century, and meanwhile more than half dozen of wireless charging technology exist so far. And this is another remarkable leap and with this wireless charging system enters into new era. As this is the beginning of air charge technology, Xiaomi states that in near future, this technology will also be able to charge smart watch, bracelets and other smart devices. It will also incorporate all the living room devices like speakers, desk lamps and other small devices which will make the living room completely wireless and ultimately the wireless ecosystem throughout the house.
