What is 4K?

Pixel - Wikipedia

4K resolution technically refers to a horizontal display resolution of approximately 4,000 pixels.

Pixel is the smallest unit (dot shape) in the screen of any display unit like TV , computer monitor or mobile screens.

When certain pixel light-up in combination, several patterns or graphics visualized in the screen. In this way, the more pixel your screen have, the more smooth picture you will get.

Digital television and digital cinematography commonly use several different 4K resolutions. In television and consumer media, 3840 × 2160 is the dominant 4K standard, whereas the movie projection industry uses 4096 × 2160.

4K viewing is high in quality since it has more pixel in the TV screen compared to other versions like HD version which have 1920 × 1080 pixel dimension.

You can simply calculate the pixel in 4k or full HD TV. If your TV is 4K then it has 3840 × 2160 pixel ratio. That means the TV has 3,840 horizontal pixels and 2,160 vertical pixels, for a total of about 8.3 million pixels. If your TV if full HD, then your TV has 1920 × 1080 pixel ratio. That means the TV has 1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels high for a total of about 2.7 million pixels.

In Nepal, most of the TV channel stream video quality of SD (720 × 576 pixel ratio), HD (1280 x 720 pixels ratio) or Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels ratio) at maximum. In this way, the Galaxy 4K is first TV channel in Nepal who will send 4K videos to your TV.

Is your TV compatible for Galaxy 4K?

To view 4K videos streamed by Galaxy 4K TV, your TV should support or should have 4K display. Means, if your TV is ‘Full HD’ then you can watch Galaxy 4K programs but cannot take full advantage of Galaxy 4K videos. And this also equally apply vice-versa. Means suppose your TV has 4K display and if you watch TV shows from News24Nepal (as of now) then your video quality will not be like as Galaxy 4K.

In these case downscaling and upscaling algorithm works to fit the HD video in 4K TV and 4K video in HD TV respectively.

4K TV (also known as Ultra HD – UHD) Will display 4K quality video streamed by Galaxy 4K

Full HD TV will NOT display exactly 4K video streamed by Galaxy 4K instead will downscale and display in Full HD quality or little better.
